Along the way he achieved his Eagle Scout rank from the Boy Scouts before enlisting in the Oregon National Guard as a medic. He attended Eastern Oregon University where he participated on the rodeo and football teams. After a short career as a professional rodeo cowboy, he took a position with the Boy Scouts of America in Portland, where he became an expert in fundraising and chapter development in the nonprofit arena. He was promoted several times and was in a Field Director position responsible for training and managing several executives when he made the decision to lead CCA Oregon. "I am really looking forward to bringing some of the concepts I have learned in the nonprofit world and applying them to the conservation and well-being of Oregon's incredible coastal and marine environments," Chris said. "Everyone who lives in this region has a deep appreciation for our beautiful natural surroundings, but the trick is to translate that appreciation into action to conserve and enhance them. That is what CCA is all about and I can't wait to work in the name of conservation and the dedicated volunteers who drive it." Chris and his wife have two girls — Abigail and Allison.
